Nothing says summer quite as well as an ice cold glass of sweet, tart lemonade.  If you’re like me, I enjoy lemonade all year-round.  Lemons are an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps maintain healthy skin, bones and teeth, maintain the immune system, and helps the body absorb iron from plant sources.

How to Choose a Lemon:

When choosing lemons, pick ones with firm, thin, smooth skin, that feel heavy for their size. 

How to Store Lemons:

Store unwashed lemons at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in a resealable plastic bag in the
refrigerator for up to 6 weeks. Leftover lemon juice can be frozen and used later.

Room Temperature: Up to 2 weeks
Refrigerator: Up to 6 weeks

Using Lemons:

Rinse lemons thoroughly before preparing. If juicing a lemon, leave at room temperature. To
get the most juice out of the lemon, roll between the palm of your hand and the countertop.

It takes about 6 medium lemons to get 1 cup of lemon juice. One medium lemon will give 3
tablespoons of juice and 2 to 3 teaspoons of grated peel.

    • 6  cups water
    • 1 cup ReaLemon bottled lemon juice
    • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar + 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tsps lemon zest
  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
  • 5 cups cold water

Add sugar and 1/2 cup water to a small pot.  Cook over med-high heat , stir until sugar dissolves – about 3 to 4 minutes to form a simple syrup. Remove pot  from heat and allow to cool.Add the simple syrup, lemon zest, lemon juice and water to pitcher.  Mix well. Chill and serve over ice, Enjoy!

3.lemonade recipeLow Carb Lemonade:

Perfect for a hot summer day, lower in calories and carbs than lemonade made with sugar. Makes about 28 ounces (size of xl starbucks clear iced tea cup)

  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup Realemon bottled lemon juice concentrate
  • 5 packets of Splenda
  • 1 cup of ice

Add cold water to large water bottle or cup which holds at least 28 ounces. Add Realemon juice and Splenda, stir well. Add ice and enjoy!


4.lemonade recipeEasy Raspberry Lemonade:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar + 1 cup water
  • 5 1/2 cups  water
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 10-12 lemons)
  • 1 ½ cups fresh raspberries + 1/2 cup water
In a small pot stir together the granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium low heat and continue to stir until the sugar has dissolved, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Add the raspberries and ½ cup water to blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, using a spoon to push the mixture through, and add to a large pitcher.
Add the lemon juice, remaining 5 ½ cups water, and cooled sugar mixture to the pitcher. Stir to combine.
Serve over ice with extra lemon slices and raspberries for garnish, Enjoy!

 

5.lemonade recipe Easy Mango Lemonade Slushie Recipe:

  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups frozen mango pieces

Add the water, sugar and lemon juice to a blender or Magic Bullet. Blend for about 30 seconds, or until sugar is dissolved. Add the mango pieces and blend until smooth, about one minute. Serve and Enjoy!
